InSpirational Column: God's Glorious Creations

By Joyce Balentine

When I think about the power of God, it takes my breath away. Creation is the ultimate canvas of His work. We make many wonderful things in our lives. The human race is creative and quite skilled at what we do. Artists create beautiful pictures while musicians lift our spirits high as they play for those who sing as though with the voices of angels. The softness of a newborn in our arms warms our heart and souls. God's creations span many different realms and channels, from the tiniest atoms to the majestic mountains.

Genesis 1:1&2, In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

His handiwork is all around us, as well as above us. The majesty of His creations can be seen in the movement of white summer clouds, or blazing stars shining in a dark sea of ebony. He controls the wind and releases the rain and the soft winter snow. The universe is alive with His creations. All we have to do is look around us to see the wonders He has created.

Every day we are given the chance to see the beauty of creation. I have seen God's power and wisdom in the eyes of the elderly, as well as in the clouds gently nestled against the horizon. No matter how hard we try to create, we can  never compare to the wonders that God simply spoke into existence. His strength and His power were manifest at the creation of the world and the creation of life. We are only able to create with our hands and our voices; we are limited to the things that we create. Some minds are geared toward mathematics, while others are filled with thoughts and images, just waiting to be put on paper. God took the smallest ideas and turned them into His Divine Creations.

God's creative ablilities have no limits. This world and all others were created by the sound of His voice. Along with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, they took a vast and empty universe, and filled it with the beauty that we still see today. God's creative ability has no limitations. Every blade of grass and every grain of sand are His creations.

Life is the finest of God's creations and as such we should always give praise and glory to Him for our very existence. God took pleasure in creating. He knew that the things He had created were good.

Gensis 1:31a, And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good.

Not only did God create the heavens and the earth, but our heavenly home as well. After this life has ended, we will still be able to enjoy the handiwork of the Trinity. Jesus tells us that He has gone to prepare a place for us in heaven, so the creating didn't stop  with our world and our universe. John 14: 1-3, Let not your heart be troubled, ye  believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself: that where I am, there ye may be also.

As a child I loved the old song that said, this world is not my home, I'm just passing  through, but what a wonderful place we have been given to spend our short time here on earth. We have a world filled with the wondrous creations, that God gave to us. To be able to create something from nothing, is an ability that belongs to the blessed Trinity. Their strength and power are showcased in the glory of creation.

Creation

God looked down upon this lonely, barren land.

He created the earth with the wave of His hand.

He hung the moon and stars, then He made the sun,

There was more to do, for He had just begun.

God took a lump of clay, and molded it in His hand.

He breathed the breath of life, then He created man.
